Autumn song

The garden has started to settle into its rest... its scent is sweet and rainbow tinted.  Rose bushes and trees rest quietly under the spell of crimsoned days.  Early in the morning, the sky dresses in cotton candy pinks and muted blues.

It wears a tutu of crimsoned toasted autumnal leaves, and the wind blowing through leaves has brought in whispers from beyond the unknown.

The little white cottage shines under the autumnal sky.... like a tiny light in the dark.

I too have been enchanted by autumn.  It is the season of wild hair blowing in cool breezes, showers of toasted leaves and mysterious cats strolling the gardens.

The barrier between the worlds is whisper-thin.... It is that time again!  The arrival of the Crow-witches!

Witches cackle and prepare merrily evil potions and some brew
They're bringing with them all that sort of stuff that comes from the other side too...

But, of course, don't pay attention to everything I say and only believe that this nonsense is nothing else but the joy autumn brings into my crazy life...  igniting it with an overdose of imagination and filling it with little pieces of joy like sparkles of glitter.

...and who wouldn't feel this excited!~  I love how the world appears under this slanted light of October, how the birds seem to fly swathed in joyfulness, as they congregate by the feeders carrying new songs under their wings.  How lovely.  How marvelous the hours are at any time of day.

Nature sings its heady and sweet song to anyone who cares to hear it.
My heart too sings...

It is the joy that comes naturally by knowing that everywhere you look you see God making our earth sweet and clean with the magic of autumn....

Pale amber sunlight falls across
The reddening October trees....
Are we not better and at home
In dreamful Autumn, we who deem
No harvest joy is worth a dream?
A little while and night shall come,
A little while, then, let us dream...
~Ernest Dowson (1867–1900), "Autumnal"

  1. We have had beautiful autumn skies here and the days have been wonderful, with cool, brisk nights and early mornings. It really is a magical time of year. Enjoy......

  2. An active imagination is what keeps us young and goes hand in hand with believing in magic. What a dull world it would be without people like you.
