Turkey and mirrors

We had a nice, uncomplicated Thanksgiving Day… just the two of us in the quiet little cottage… cooking without haste or worries, making what we wanted and what we love.

We had planned to spend Thanksgiving Day with my sister in Fl, but after a whole week in Daytona Beach, a few more days at mom and dads and after a UTI and terrible symptoms of a stomach-lining inflammation we decided it was time to return home. Two weeks away from our little white nest were too many weeks. So we drove back home two days before Thanksgiving and cherished our day and our togetherness in the quietness of our nest.

After lunch on Thanksgiving Day, we decided to tackle down one of the projects I’ve been wanting to do since we moved to our little white cottage—applying molding frames to the mirrors in our master bathroom.

Now that the walls are painted and the grout renewed, it was definitely time to work on the frames… and paint the place where the light fixtures were and didn't get painted...

We measured, cut, painted, removed the light fixture, painted some more, glued, caulked, attached the light fixture back (twice because we did it wrong the first time), cleaned up and voila...

I chose to paint the frame in gray because it makes such a pretty statement against all the white…

A plain sheet of glass glued to the bathroom wall as the standard mirror can be functional, but also boring and unattractive.  Framing it will spruce up the entire look of the room! Anyone can frame that boring sheet of glass and turn it into an elegant mirror!

Darkness hovered on the horizon by the time we finished our project… after a long day, a hot bath was a cottage-life luxury! ;)

I’m not done with all I want to do here yet, but I’m almost there. Still waiting for my shower curtain… can’t wait to see it! I love this bathroom so much now – it now feels like it's part of the house. Love it!.

  1. Hope you are feeling better. Your turkey looks very good. Sounds like a very nice day. We had a houseful of people.

The frame around the mirror looks beautiful, what a transformation. Great job.

  2. Oh I am so sorry that you had to experience both those very unpleasant health issues.

I have had symptoms of bladder lining inflammation, and always take "Prelief" before everything I eat or drink. And it seems to work wonders.

And no, I don't own any stock in the company. :-)

    Happy Winter Season coming...
    Tessa~
