One Room Challenge

Twice a year Linda from Calling it Home hosts a very popular challenge that participants completely redesign any space in their home in only 5 weeks, and then share the big reveal on week 6.  I’m super excited to be participating in my second One Room Challenge this week!

So let’s go over my plan…  Remember my gypsy room? I have written many posts about it. You can read HERE, and HERE, and HERE, and even HERE. I have even created an entire blog dedicated to my passion for all thing gypsy, and bohemian style.  You can check it out here:  GYPSY DREAMS.

For some of us, our individual styles in interior decorating are always growing and evolving. For some of us, trends come and go, and we ride along enjoying them for a time and then moving on to the next... and the next... and the next. Just like fashion. Sometimes it is hard to pin point your own personal home decor style when you find your preferences changing. That's me. It took me a few months after I decorated my favorite room as you see here on the following photographs to realize that it was a little bit too bright, too loud, to 'gypsy' in colors and patterns and overall decor...

Really cute.  But when things are too bright and colorful in my house, I tend to crave the cool muted color palette, and again, when my style goes too bland, I crave color.  So now I find myself moving onto an opposite boundary again; envisioning a more subtle, more calming room: The eclectic, vintage-inspired look of the Urban Outfitters I so love.  So, this is the beginning.  And here are some ideas of what I want to see in my room now:

Love the idea of mixing window panels... lace and sheer.  So pretty!

And how about this for a cool backdrop – just tape your images straight to the wall

Have to have a mood board!

And one or two fur pillows...

A huge plant by the bed...

A medallion duvet cover of some sorts in a muted palette...

A black, white Mexican southwest area rug

A large floor mirror and a black, white wall tapestry...

Love the hats on the wall idea!

I'm not planing on a mayor transformation as far as painting or changing carpets or anything like that goes, just redecorating.  So I'll be posting again on the last week of our challenge to show you how I've transformed this room.  Stay tuned, and come back soon, K!
