Winter days in the cottage

Playing with jewelry in the cozy little white cottage...

Adding more necklaces to the beautiful neck...

The old gypsy woman is in town...
the dream interpreter takes the girl's hands
and begins chanting a Gypsy prayer...

Outside the wind is growling...
bitter cold in the morning,
sunshine and warmth in bright blue sky afternoons...

Fairies appear under the mellow twilight
Magic ensues...

Birds...

Enchanting my hours...

Birds...
Real...

 and not so real....

Roses...
Real or faux?

...whenever I can't find roses in my garden
I love mixing dried and silk

Petals, real...

Dried red roses from anniversaries past...
faux coral ranunculus..
Go ahead, mix them up
Don't be afraid!

I know that some home decorators are against the idea of using fake flowers
But the free-spirited, love them however they come....
Flowers are a feel good accessory for any room.
Contrasting colors add a nice pop...

  2. I agree, it's all about color. . .and I don't hesitate to decorate with dried or silk when I can't have fresh flowers. Love your pretty image of the dried and fresh roses.

  3. Cielo, I love silk flowers too. I put them in vases with water and nobody knows but me. Why not have tulips and orchids and peonies where none will grow. I tuck them into pots outside too. A little trick that keeps my friends guessing and puts a smile on my face. Yours are just beautiful. Love, Mimi xxx

  4. Silk flowers can be so beautiful now that it's not right to say you hate all of them. Right? I did that for awhile and then last year my girlfriend showed me some that look so real I just had to buy them. If you look in the right stores, it's amazing what they have and I'm happy to buy them. :)

  5. Hola mi querida Cielo,

Your photos are beautiful as always. They are the perfect pick me whenever I am in need of a smile or uplift. Your gypsy girl is very charming and chic. Love her head piece.

I am not against using faux flowers in the winter at all. In fact, it is something that I normally decorate in our home. I did not think of mixing the faux flowers with the dried ones. That is a great idea. It gives the arrangement a bit of texture and added color.

We must be thinking the same because I just did a post using silk flowers. Pop on over for a look.

Wishing you a week full of beauty of majic.

  6. I love the way you use silk and dried flowers together! I am drying some hydrangeas at the moment that I will bring out soon...when there is the slightest hint of spring in my mountain home.

  7. Though I prefer Real Florals they don't last too long here in the Desert and so I will use what I have... I've found I have a real Infatuation towards certain dried Florals... and Adore Vintage Millinery which I Collect and use in place of the Real Thing when I can't spring for a Fresh Bouquet.
