Coffee nook revamped...

I always wanted to have a little coffee nook in my kitchen. There's just something so endearing about the thought of having a cup of coffee in a quiet area tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. So when we moved to our little white cottage, I finally got to work on creating my dream.

I then added some cute knobs to my little green dresser... from Hobby Lobby

A cozy little spot perfect to keep all the coffee-related items in one place. This corner added so much charm to our little white cottage and I loved that when friends came over they left inspired to create their own coffee space after seeing ours...

I later found this cute wooden shelf and added it to that wall...
The little drawers hold tea bags, sweeteners and such...

antique shelf

I absolutely loved how our little coffee bar turned out, and it was definitely worth the investment because we used it every single day... perfect for easy access to coffee in the morning, and a nice cup of tea or hot cocoa for lounging on the couch on cold nights.

The way we live in our home, however, is always bound to evolve you know... almost nothing stays the same for too long...

The antique little green table matched really well with the palette of the kitchen, but I knew too well it looked disproportionated in height beside the much taller dish shelves... plus, it soon became obvious that it was too small for our needs as well... that keep me dreaming... and planning my next project.

First, I needed to find a larger table that could fit all the coffee-related items, such mugs, coffee maker, espresso machine and Keurig... all in one same spot and still give me place to work there.

So I looked around my little white cottage to see what I could find, and found the perfect piece of furniture...

White looked cute and it matched real well with the area rug and such, but I wanted some glamour there... I removed everything I had in that corner and began painting away... of course, I knew hubby wouldn't agree with my vision of using an old dresser in the kitchen... so I had to wait until he left for work before I could start... hehe!

I, on the other hand are not one to stick to the standard room designing norms and like to use furniture in unconventional places.  I knew he was going to like the finished product once he saw it, as it usually is the case, but he needed to see it all done first...

And here it is...
From a boring white to a glamorous work of art, don't you think so! ;)

Americana Decor Chalk Paint in Relic
paint color Relic

Paint colors I used:  Relic Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint. I used a gold leaf pen to highlight the details. And sealed the entire thing with clear wax.

Next project? Open shelves on that wall! Stay tuned!

  2. O. I. LOVE. IT.
You did an awesome job on that dresser. I loved the first one with the cute shelf...but the dresser, ESPECIALLY with open shelving, is going to blow everybody's skirt up. I have a dresser almost just like yours...black but no gold...just may have to copy you. :)
I am following you so I won't miss those shelves.....:)

  8. Wow, that looks amazing Cielo! I must confess that when I saw the photo of the white dresser my first thought was "Oh no, too much white" but when I scrolled down to the next picture and saw the finished project I was pleasantly surprised. I love it! I would never have thought of adding the gold trim. It's perfect.

  9. I love that look, too. I like the white and the little green cabinet. Anything you do is simply beautiful, my dear friend. I do like the goldwork, though. It makes your little table look very, very European in nature, and coffee is kind of an European concept in my mind and spirit. A coffee nook sounds wonderful, but no room right now at all. I had a corner in my old house with a big, blue chair and a magical moon statue and coffee right there beside me. It was so fun to go sit in the corner in my kitchen like a kitchen witch in the old days. I'll figure something out again. I'm sure.

Love everything you share. I cannot wait for the shelves to show up. I know what you mean about not sharing the vision until it can be seen. It doesn't always explain well! haha..
