Dreaming on a summer's day

Oh, let me take you into the dark green woods, like a 'mass of darkness', the ground overgrown by privets and trees of all sorts... a sanctuary for birds and the thrashers that scrape and graze the floors of this place that sometimes become a trail where little rushing rivers converge, and form and run down to the skirt of the garden to quench the wildflowers that grow there...

And now that I'm free again to roam my domains as I wish, I am living the hours of my days here—dreaming under green vines and roses.

In my dreams I'm treading some old witch's track, amid brilliant flowers and long grasses, and far beyond the thicket there must be a shack... a witch's cottage crowned with evergreen leaves and decorated with a thousand beautiful flowers that perfume the air around...

When I wake up from my dreams I refill birdfeeders, and deadhead roses.  I water and feed potted plants with their vitamins.

Today, I made a pumpkin flan...

...the pumpkin puree, the eggs, the baking spices, cinnamon and vanilla,
and a pretty table to go with it...

Our little white cottage is now almost completely camouflaged by the bounties of summer
and only recognizable to squirrels and  the random visiting wood elves...

As I write, I'm listening to these lyrics... "I will love you in the morning when the dew is in on the ground... I will love you when the sun is rising... I will love you in the evening when the moon is on the rise, will love you all night long when the stars all cover the sky"... from Twin Bandit - For You

Have a good day everyone!

  1. Lovely, happy post! It is so delightful to read here... And feel your happiness, at being safely back, in your own little Kingdom. This is where you are meant to be. This is where you thrive.

So love your imagination, and your ability to write flights of fancy. Which might be summed up, in the word Whimsy. Yes? And oh my, there is so little whimsy in blog land. Let alone, so very little, in the world. I love whimsy! Love it! Love it!

And the delightful and magical surroundings, you have nurtured, are the perfect place, to dwell in whimsy. Thank you for sharing photos of this place, with us, who don't have such.

I am lucky enough, to have a view, out my back patio door, which brings me joy, all year long, and in every season of the year. It is not so lush as yours, but I am so very grateful for it. So very, very grateful. And try to take the time, to simply sit in my comfy chair, and gaze out at this little natural world.

Listen to the wind chimes... See the birds... Watch for visitors to the little bird bath fountain... Wait and wait, for a dragonfly to pass.. Etc. Etc.

    Oooops, too long. :-)

    Again, thank you for sharing!

    1. The white cottage, the solitude of the place, the light on the window, the fog on the fields behind it, the naked branches and light snow on that little trail. I guess it all has to do with all that rain we're having and that nippy changed in weather that have kept me dreaming... everything in that painting speak to my soul, and it is almost the same feeling I find here in my little white cottage... I could put a pic of my own cottage on my header, but I'm forever a romantic and a dreamer and I tend to get lost in paintings in a much more deeper sense, than with reality... so there! ;)

    2. Thank you.

I looked again... At your header...

Cozy at home... Nippy outside.... No longer lush outside either... Perfect for the warm, hunker-down-inside time.... I hadn't noticed the fog behind... Delightful... Adds to the atmosphere.... But, I prefer to call it Dragon's breath... smile...

Same here... I love art, to convey atmosphere. Or special-feeling photos.

Right now I am _lost_ in this site, and this site, and this site. Happy sigh... Evoking coming Autumn...

  5. Cielo, just catching up on your last few posts. Beautiful magical desciptions of your beautiful magical world. You bought a tear to my eye with the brilliance of your phrase " a life of nows" I am trying to live like this now and I think that will stay with me. As I said before your blog is a soft place to land and reminds me of the magic of what is right before us. Also glad that you are finding peace and enjoying home once morex

    1. Wow... I have forgotten I'd written that, and now here you are 'reminding' me to do just that... to live in the 'nows'... now when I needed to hear exactly that, you let me see... I think God brought you here today... it amazes me how sometimes our own words can serve as the healing medium we were looking for... If you read the post I just posted, you'll understand.... Thank YOU!

    2. No thank you! for your delightful blog which I am sure I get directed to when I need it. I have actually thought that and now you say it I am humbled. Living thousands of miles from family(I emigrated when I was 25) I can relate to how your heart is being tugged at but you will make the right decision and you too will be directed by God I'm surex
