If you have been reading me, or coming here for awhile now, most
probably you already know how I adore the eclectic gypsy look, or boho chic style...
If you are not familiar with such style, it simply
means flowy skirts and dresses, vintage accessories, junk jewelry, crocheted, lace
dresses, tops, hats, and bags, beads, fringe, lots of shawls and natural-crazy looking hair.
Except during our hot summer days, I wear a lot of boots during spring, fall and winter....
Layers layers layers...
I love handkerchief hem skirts and dresses
paired with boots...
Breezy, lightweight, flowing skirts for summer
Paired with floral bell-sleeve blouses
Be sure to wear flowers in your hair too!
When we visited Spain last year, street gypsies gathered around me trying to sell me their lovely shawls... I bought one... or two!
This is my winter look.
Lots of layered skirts paired with my 70's thrift store
Stevie Nick's style boots...
Stevie Nick's style boots...
I love this long fringed-sweater so much!
A key ingredient in boho chic style is comfort — you’ll see a lot of soft, loose-fitting, flowy clothes, often worn in layers. Maxi dresses (full-length, usually loose-fitting dresses) are a great example of the flowy comfort common to this style...
This flowy floral thrift store skirt is one of my favorites ever. On going through my stash of photographs the other day I found out that this skirt had travelled with me to more than one country round the world...
In Israel this year
(Did you noticed the guy reading beside me... an American for sure! haha)
Nobody ever wears shorts in Europe, except for tourists!
Even if it is in the midst of summer, please do not wear your shorts in Europe...
Just saying ;)
This long fringed crocheted shawl on the photograph above is one of my favorite ever
I use it almost every day during our mild winter days
and lucky for me, it was a thrift store find!
Love it!
"Jewelry and pins have been worn throughout history as symbols of power, sending messages. Interestingly enough, it was mostly men who wore the jewelry in various times, and obviously crowns were part of signals that were being sent throughout history by people of rank" (Madeleine Albright)
I like jewelry. Big rings, weird necklaces.
Old books, long flowy skirts, clean wild hair and open skies...
I like the smell of rain, I like mornings and sunshiny days.
My heart is a bohemian wandering the earth.
Do you have an specific style you love, or certain clothes
you like to wear, or see yourself going back to again and again? I'd love to hear about it!
Until the next time...
Dearest Cielo, I adore your Bohemian Style. This was my style for many years too, although you do it so much better than I. I aim for a more pared down French Chic style these days. I find it liberating to have culled my wardrobe to just a few curated pieces, and jewellery to a few fine rings and bracelets. Some days though, I long for my Gypsy self. I indulge her when we visit the beach. My two selves live quite happily alongside one another for sure. You are always inspiring. Mimi xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi... I understand. I too own two selves, not only in the way I dress, but also in how I decorate my home... ;) Hard to decide sometimes...

OH! Your style is fabulous! I love how you make it you. I don't really have a style right now. It's been quite a few years that we've been living just above the poverty level, and we're just now beginning to come out of that era. As a result of that, and being a big girl who cannot find things at thrift stores, I don't have a very extensive wardrobe. I do however wear dresses and skirts exclusively. I do have a pair of warm pants that I wear around the house or out in the snow once in a great while. It doesn't snow much in southern Missouri. I really enjoyed this post. You inspired me to do what I can to start developing a style. Mine would be much like yours if I had the chance to make it happen. I especially liked your long fringed crocheted shawl. It looks so versatile.

Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage,

(who used to have flowy hair like yours, but now I wear a chemo cap)
someday....
Faith... is the jewel which repairs our souls....

Thank you Rita!

Hi Cielo! My style is very similar to yours both in home decor and clothing preferences as well as in the garden. I love color and shiny sparkly things, ruffly skirts and jeweled sandals, lace edged dresses and wild curly hair! I love the peace and tranquility of a beautiful lush garden filled with colors and fragrances and the sound of water trickling in a fishpond. I think that's one of the reasons that I enjoy your blog so much!
