Those toxic people

Are you one of those people who insist in nurturing a rather sickly indoor plant in the hope to see it coming back to life someday, or are you in the group of those who wouldn't think twice before trashing and replacing it with something better?

I'm one of those that keeps trying and trying... forever hoping to bring the thing back to life, when it is obvious it would never be the jewel of a plant that it was indented to be....

Last year I bought two lovely African Violet plants...

This African Violet sat by the window drenched in sun, but no matter whatever the precautions and care I took, it still remained wretched and pitiable in her own sad little life.

You can see how lovely the other one grew to be...

Both got the same amount of care and attention...

Unfortunately, no matter the extend of your cares there are certain indoor plants that just won't thrive. Yesterday, I was finally able to trash three indoor plants I've been nurturing for over a period of a year without any success.  What a freeing thing that was!  A catharsis of the soul, indeed!

I have to confess thought, that trashing those plants did not come without a huge amount of guilt. Somehow, guilt seems to always find a way through me when I stop trying...  But I'm learning to let go, to not care for things I cannot help mend any longer.  Like with my plants, I'm learning that it is OK to trash toxic people (not members of my family) who won't respond to any amount of reasoning, love or care I try to give. Enough with them, I say!!  I'm trashing them for good!

We have all had toxic people dust us with their poison at some point in our lives.  Sometimes it’s more like a drenching.  And you find yourself bending around like barbed wire in endless attempts to please them, only to never really get there.  Say no to unnecessary crazy.  Be confident, own your own faults, your quirks and the things that make you shine!  Constant drama and negativity is never worth putting up with.

See you all soon my friends
And thank you for always being here with me

  1. I can never just dump plants or flowers in the garbage...so instead, I dump them at the base of bushes or trees and let them compost themselves back into the earth.
I've had some very toxic people in my life and it's been hard for me to walk away, especially when it comes to family members.

    1. What an awesome idea to lay down those plants at the base of trees... will have to remember that! ;)

  3. Several years ago, I had to end a friendship of many years. It wasn't because she was mean or anything, but because she took advantage of our friendship and never took responsibility for anything she did...it was always someone else's fault. Everyone around me could see it, but I guess I was in denial and didn't want to confront her. She (of course) blames me and has never tried to rectify the situation. It was such a hard thing to do, and I am still sad about it.

    1. I can imagine how sad you must feel, Delaine. In my case, this person is not even in our lives any more... an ex-girlfriend of our oldest son. Can you imagine! She's such a craze... still harassing us. And why? Because I am still friend with our son's previous girlfriend... a Psycho for sure...
