This and that...

I'm so in love with geometric patterns in the COLOR COMBO black white!  But you knew that, right! Black and white meld together in such a lovely contrasting design... It is impossible to ignore it!  

I keep adding and mixing patterns, changing things around in our newly painted bedroom... trying different combinations of pillows, adding and mixing...  it is addicting! ;)

This combo is clean, simple and complex at the same time, and has endless opportunities that other color schemes just don’t manage to generate.  It all just balances itself out so divinely!

Black and white patterns are all over my house... it is almost ridiculous, really!  Just this morning I coincidently happened to notice that much of my clothes follow my same decorating preferences around the house... how weird is that! I even found two exact same open front sweaters hanging in my closet.... How did that happen?  Haha!

Some of my shoes follow the same patterns and colors too...

I've been concocting my own hummingbird food lately.

These sparkling jewels of Nature are so easy to love.

They're the true embodiment of summer, me thinks...

Did you know that no color is needed to attract these amazing little creatures?  In fact, it is best if you don't.  Artificial coloring isn't a huge health issue for us because we consume such small amounts, but hummingbirds can drink three times their weight in nectar or sugar water every day. Give it a try, yes?

Here is the recipe I use for my hummingbird food:

2 cups water

1/2 cup regular sugar 

Bring the water to a boil.

Take the water off the heat and add the sugar.

Stir to dissolve completely.

Let the nectar cool.

Place in a clean hummingbird feeder and hang outside for the birds.

Wildflowers are now blooming everywhere again round our property...

While in the garden, I snatched up some basil for my homemade pesto... 

Basil it truly is the scent and taste of purest summer days,

don't you think so!

Yum!

Oh, and mint too~

Have you ever tried making your own mint iced teas! 

Brew tea leaves in boiling water, letting steep for 10 minutes. Gently bruise the mint leaves with the back of a wooden spoon to release the oils.  Pour brewed tea into a serving pitcher. Add sugar and lemon.  Swirl, cool the infusion to room temperature, and then store in the fridge. Serve over ice with an additional sprig of fresh mint.  Delicious!

I love these herbs so much, I've decided to grow more herbs in pots to spread around the back porch and gardens next year.  The oregano will ran rampant, the thyme and sage fairly abundant, all in pots...

The garden is looking so pretty these days it's like a place out of a fairy tale book... at least my own kind of fairy tale...  

It is Mother Nature oozing with beauty and soul, against the backdrop of a miracle that is this little garden skirted by the most enchanting woods ever...  I love it so much, I can't get enough of it!

Autumn is most definitely around the corner in my little neck of the woods... when we got back from FL, we found a quantious amount of dead leaves all over the ground... trees are telling a fresh new story, rose bushes have started to show changes in their forms and autumnal blooms are emerging.  Delicious days, glorious mornings and warm afternoons.  

I'm still finding frogs in their dwelling places by the pond and little stream behind the garden.  I love those unexpected encounters and leaps that make my heart jump in a sudden burst of surprise...

Now that days and night are clearly starting to cool down a bit, I'm starting to want to dress more like this again...

Well, I best go through my 2 boxes of boots and tights and get them ready for fall! ;)
