The moment of enchantment

I call it the moment of enchantment.  It happens every day at the same time—a fleeting moment; a capsule of time in the form of wonder.  I see it, I run to it—open-mouthed in astonishment and wonder, the morning in the hollow of my hands; ready to capture a whiff of diminutive gleaming luminaries.

But you really have to pay attention to what’s going on around you… for if you don’t you’ll miss the moment.  The enchantment vanished into nothingness... until the following day, at the same time.

I’m referring to that enchanting moment when the sun—a lamp placed at a finite distance dances in the horizon and ever so slowly glides across the sky, descends upon our little white cottage and bends down to peek in... through the living room windows… light filling up the room; pure bright light poured down in buckets of gold all over the furnishing; playing with the objects as it makes rainbows on floors and ceilings…

I love it.  Love that light of the early riser sun.

  1. Oh I know exactly what you are talking about. This is a moment that is like being reborn, when the first rays of the sun come streaming into the window and light up your entire world. I think all my plants wait for this time of day and I can almost hear a sign of happiness. There is a feeling of wonder that, for me, is like nothing else. Its like being excited and calm all at the same time.

  2. Our little home and the acres around us give us what we call "magic time" when the sunshine on the woodland leaves behind our home creates such daily loveliness that it lifts the spirit.

One of my favorite things is the sunshine thru our South facing windows at this time of year that illuminates the clear glass paperweights that rest on a table in front of the living room window and cause the paperweights to nearly seem to catch fire.

    Your decorations are lovely!

    Hugs!

  3. What a lovely post! Such a thrill that the wonders of nature can provide. The still, silent time of early morning is the best time to just commune with the world around us. To appreciate the simple things that make life a joy. Your spark and shine look amazing!
Thanks for sharing it with us.
