Some photos

Those late afternoon wintery hours—twilight...

My little world turns cotton candy pink... something magical holds the atmosphere in its bosom as the sun, before its terminus, descends behind the horizon in the west.  And you look around you, grasping the moment with the tip of your soul… something wonderful all around you; something present and waiting patiently to be revealed... but whatever that something is, it has yet to expose itself in the afterglow.  Perhaps the truth is that we simply don't have the eyes to see it, or the ears to hear it or the soul to comprehend what is right in front of us... being held out in offering?

Then in the cottage...
Arroz con leche to warm you on cold night...

Remembrances of roses...
from the garden

Collected at the end of October...

Christmas waves a magic wand over our little cottage...

Life at home...
absolute joy

A lovely vintage paper wreath – a gift from my friend Nancy

I’m so thankful I decided to keep the holly hedge surrounding our little white cottage… so thankful for all of you my dear readers who suggested I should keep it and opened up my eyes with the wonderful idea of shrub lighting for Christmas…

"Christmas in Bethlehem. The ancient dream: a cold, clear night made brilliant by a glorious star, the smell of incense, shepherds and wise men falling to their knees in adoration of the sweet baby, the incarnation of perfect love."  - Lucinda Franks

  1. Everything looks so lovely. We have had so many cloudy, gloomy days I turn the tree lights on to light the rooms (I have 2 trees).

  2. ,-) You moved your inside tree, did you not? ,-) One pic shows it, placed in the middle window. Others show it, inside a not-middle-window.

    Precious, both ways.

    Precious, all...

    Happy Christmas,
    Tessa~

  4. 1/2 c. white rice, uncooked
    1/2 cinnamon stick

    1 c. sweetened condensed milk
    2 1/2 tbsp. raisins
    Cinnamon for garnish

    1. Put rice, cinnamon stick, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a quick boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until water is absorbed (15 minutes).
    2. Add milk and raisins. Cook uncovered until milk works into rice (10 to 15 minutes).

    3. Remove from heat, take out cinnamon stick and cover. Let sit for a few minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
